Photography for me is about finding beauty in the details. While everyone around me is admiring the grand vista, I am the one looking at my feet in hopes of finding that one perfect shell or tiny wildflower hidden in the grass. I am fascinated by cats’ eyes and horses’ manes, by frost on fall leaves and translucent flower petals. Inspired greatly by Georgia O’Keeffe’s amazing body of floral work, I have been drawn into that world of spectacular beauty.
I employ shallow depth of field, negative space, intentional blurring and motion in the camera and then combine layers in Photoshop for delicate blends meant to reflect the essence of the seasons and the ephemeral beauty of our natural surroundings.
